The Thursday Night Club was formed some years ago by a group of friends from different areas of commerce and industry so that they could meet up on a regular basis, at a chosen eatery, as a way of keeping in touch’ and with no pun intended to chew the fat. All of the original members are still in place which retains our consistency.
Having had some great experiences – and some that were dire, we decided to rate each eatery from all aspects of their offering from entry to departure. We choose a venue ahead of time, usually based on the menu, and the look of the place on it’s online presence. The yardstick, is always – “Is it as good as Wetherspoons”? If it’s not as good as Wetherspoon, you might as well save your pennies and go to Spoons, as almost every town has got one, or close by.
It is club and of course, and clubs have rules. “Rule One”, punishable by being “hung drawn and quartered” is not to make comment on the scoring until the bill is presented. Scores and comments are then recorded secretly and collected to calculate the final result. Based on the end scores a review is then agreed and published.
We are aware that staff change and establishments get sold on, menus get tweaked and premises get tired. However we must presume that all establishments are set up to make a profit and thus, their offering has to be spot on!
